In the 1980s, Noelle Qin accompanied Vincent Song from poverty to success as the director of a machinery factory. However, her fiancé Vincent, influenced by his ex-girlfriend Zara An, falsely accused Noelle of faking a machine tool injury with red ink after she cut herself saving the equipment. He forced her out of their marital home, made her give up her position as workshop supervisor, and even framed her, leading to her imprisonment. Completely heartbroken, Noelle called off the engagement and later gained admission to the Northwestern Institute of Technology.
